INSTRUCTOR
Wynetta “Wendy” Fletcher is an Eastern Ky native. She has earned degrees from Morehead State University (Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, 1994), the University of Kentucky (Master’s of Science in Nursing, 1999), and Texas Christian University (Doctor of Nursing Practice, 2012).
Dr. Fletcher is a Board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over two decades of experience in primary care. In 2005, she founded Health Plus, PSC, a nurse-practitioner lead family practice clinic specializing in family practice and occupational medicine.
A leader in both healthcare practice and policy, she is a respected author and speaker. She was named as one of America’s Top 10 NPs in 2018 by the Point of Care Network, and was named the KY Nurse Practitioner State Award of Excellence Winner, Advocate of the Year, by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2019.

Learning Objectives:
1.Review the history of cannabis as a medicinal product.
2.Differentiate cannabis products and their effects on the human body.
3.Identify and discuss objective physiological signs and subjective symptoms of cannabis intoxication.
4.Interpret current* KY regulations around cannabis certification by healthcare providers and their implications for practice. *as of 08/10/2024, subject to change

This educational activity offers 2.4 KBN contact hours of CE, in which 0.6 may be applied towards pharmacology. KANPNM is accredited as a provider for the Kentucky Board of Nursing (provider # 1-0018). Expiration Date: December 31, 2025. Participants must complete the program within 30 days of purchase, in addition to your required signature, quiz and evaluation to receive CE credit.
Learning Objectives:
1.Explain provider requirements for the certification of medicinal marijuana use, according to current KY statutes and regulations.
2.Identify the key components of medical history, physical, exam and diagnostic findings in the six qualifying conditions (QC) for medicinal marijuana use in KY.
3.Evaluate case study patients to determine which ones meet the qualifying condition rules and may be appropriate to certify for medicinal marijuana

1.Review the botany of cannabis and its history as a medicinal plant.
2.Differentiate the expected effects of various strains of cannabis on the user, primarily the differences between Indica and Sativa.
3.Examine the chemical properties of medicinal cannabis and the potential drug interactions with modern pharmaceuticals.
4.Demonstrate mastery in certifying qualifying medical conditions for medicinal cannabis in KY.
